ENUGU—A group of Anambra people living in Germany, yesterday, hailed the programme of action and manifesto presented by the governorship candidate of the Action Congress, AC, Dr. Chris Ngige at the widely-televised political debate organised for contestants ahead of the February 6 governorship poll.
The group, Anambrarians in Diaspora, said in a statement made available to Vanguard, that they were highly impressed by the realistic presentations of Dr. Ngige, noting that after hearing the various programmes which the various candidates have conceived for the state, the AC’s programme of action appeared more realistic.
The statement by leaders of the group, said that the political debate had further rekindled the hope of Anambrarians in Diaspora, that the state could get quality leadership in Ngige, whom they had earlier endorsed on the strength of his past track record.
Dr. Ngige had thrilled participants at the debate organised by a group, Anambra Re-birth at Awka Tuesday, when he listed various projects, particularly roads executed during his aborted first tenure and promised to re-enact the giant developmental strides, if given the mandate by the people of the state.
He also said that unlike some of his colleagues in the race, he was not being sponsored by any political godfather, adding that he was committed to offering a transparent leadership that would transform Anambra.
The Diaspora group noted that the independent-mindedness of Dr. Ngige, was one of the factors that necessitated his endorsement, “as we believe that nobody can govern Anambra well under the cage of a godfather, whose desire is always self-enrichment.â€
