FRSC commissions Okigwe information centre

By Chidi Nkwopara

OWERRI—The Okigwe Information Processing Centre of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, charged with the responsibility of processing drivers licence, has been commissioned.

This is coming as the Transition Committee Chairman of Okigwe Local Government Area, Mr Emeka Okoronkwo, enjoined drivers and road users to be safety conscience this festive season.

Addressing the audience before the commissioning, the Imo State FRSC Sector Commander, Mr. Angus Ibezim, explained that the Owerri centre was under pressure to satisfy the fresh applicants and those who are renewing their drivers licence in the state.

“This resulted in the backlog of unprocessed licences with attendant adverse effect on our enforcement of road traffic regulations. This will not only decongest the Owerri centre, but will also take the drivers licence production centres to the grassroot,”  Ibezim said.

According to the Imo FRSC boss, “to ensure enthronement of professionalism and good driving culture, FRSC shall in the coming year, introduce a system that will allow for the certification of prospective drivers as condition precedent to their being issued with drivers licence.”
