Iroha backs Amodu for FIFA World Cup

By Kate Obodo

Former Super Eagles defender Benedict Iroha has  added his voice to the growing list of commentators who have called for the sack or retention of Super Eagles chief coach Shaibu Amodu.

He said  the coach should be given the  opportunity to lead the team to the Nations Cup in Angola and the World Cup in South Africa next year, stressing that now is not right to call for Amodu’s sack.

The former Holland  based player, believes Amodu still has the technical know-how to lead the team to the world stage and should not be denied the opportunity to enjoy the fruit of his labour.

Iroha stressed that it would be unreasonable if the football house should sack or seek for the assistant of foreign expatriate especially now that he has picked the ticket for the country.

He however, advised the NFF to focus more on how to rebuild the team and give them adequate preparation for  the task ahead.

“For Christ sake he has done well by qualifying Nigeria for the Nations Cup and World Cup, what would any country like Nigeria want from him. There are  some countries  who did not qualify for the World Cup but still kept faith with their local coaches”, he said
