By  Simon EBEGBULEM,  Benin City
TWO aides of the Speaker of the Edo state House of Assembly, Mr Zakawanu Garuba, including the younger brother to the Speaker, Sumaina, lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident at Iruekpen, along Benin-Auchi road Thursday.

The duo were burnt beyond recognition after their Honda car rammed into the bush while dodging an oncoming vehicle.

It was learnt that Sumaina and Kamaru Umoru were on their way to Auchi when the accident occurred.

As at the time of filling this report, the Speaker who is presently at a conference in Tanzania is yet to be informed. However, the duo were buried according to Muslim rites yesterday.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr Dada Ayokhai, who commented on the tragic incident, lamented that “ the incident happened when a car coming opposite them was overtaking a vehicle and they rammed into a ditch while trying to dodge the car.

They were burnt beyond recognition which is very sad.

“We are trying to communicate to the Speaker so that he can cut his trip short. It came as a shock to all of us because we were all together before they left for Auchi. It is sad” he said.
