Tight security at Super Eagles’ training

By Fidelis Ebu, Abuja
No fewer than 25 armed policemen were drafted to guide players of the Super Eagles that resumed their training yesterday at the Abuja National Stadium ahead of 2010 South Africa World Cup qualifier against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia on Sunday.

Aside the uniformed policemen, unspecified number of plain clothes operatives were said to have also been deployed to the team. Security is also maintained at the players’ camp site at the Nicon Luxury hotel which has been declared a-no-go area since the players started arriving there for their preparation for the qualifying tie against Tunisia.
The stern-looking policemen would not allow any interference with the players.
