PDP chieftains score Orji low

By  Anayo Okoli

Aba—A group of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwarts weekend, in Aba, the commercial capital of Abia state, took a critical look at two years of Governor Theodore Orji’s administration under the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), and described the government as a total failure in the area of development.

The group said that the state needs a change in leadership, as according to them, “Abia state is ten years behind its expected level of development”.

Meanwhile, in the build-up to 2011, the group says that it is wooing an industrialist and PDP chieftain in the state, Chief Henry Ikoh, to contest the 2011 race on the platform of PDP, even as they claimed that Ikoh will give Abia state the needed leadership.

Speaking to journalists, the leader of the group, under the umbrella of Henry Ikoh Governorship Grand Alliance (HIGGA), Prince Charles Ijioma, described the two years of PPA leadership in the state as a “disaster”.

According to Prince Ijioma, the people of the state can no longer keep quiet while the state is lacking in development. He said that there is need for the PDP to take over the governance of the state in 2011.

“PPA leadership in Abia state has failed. Governor T.A. Orji is not doing well. PPA is not doing well. I will assess them zero, I give them zero. The state of infrastructure is zero, the road network is dilapidated. There is nothing to talk about.

If you go to M.I. Okpara Water Reservoir at GRA, Aba, they have turned it into a market, the place is zero. You can’t pass through any streets in Aba. For two year, he has not done well.
