AWKA – MR. Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu jnr, son of Ikenba Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu has resigned from the cabinet of Governor Peter Obi. His letter of resignation was dated August 31, 2009.

Ojukwu was until his resignation, Commissioner for Special Duties and Transport and was in charge of the state environmental protection agency.

Though Governor Obi, had last week advised his Commissioners and Advisers,  who could no longer keep pace with the administration to sit up or resign. Ojukwu’s resignation is being viewed by Obi’s political opponents,  as a sign of crack in the administration.

But Obi told reporters in Awka,  that some of his Commissioners were expressing desire to be given opportunity to have some rest in view of the amount of work they were exposed to on a daily basis.

The Governor, said he would not stop anybody who decides to leave, adding that people should be ready to take decisions especially when such people complain of being under stress.
