Gusau – TheÂ Zamfara State Government has approved N23 million for the payment of bursary to indigenes studying at various institutions of higher learning in the country.
Executive Secretary, State Scholarship Board, Alhaji Musa Anka, who disclosed this in Gusau yesterday said the bursary was for the 2008/2009 academic session and would be given to 8,218 students.
He said a maximum of N7,000 would be given to each student undergoing degree courses in medicine, pharmacy or engineering, adding that N5,000 would be given to each student undergoing other courses in the universities.
Whereas NCE and national diploma students would receive 3,000 each; certificate courses students would be given N2,000 each.
He said government was determined to assist the students to realise their educational dreams in spite of financial constraints.
Anka urged the students to concentrate fully on their studies and be of good behaviour in their schools.
