UNESCO urges Yar’Adua to create Tech Ministry

Abuja – The Director, United Nations Education Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Mrs. Ann Theresa Ndong Jatta yesterday appealed to President Umaru Yar’Adua and Heads of Governments in ECOWAS countries to create a Ministry of Technical and Vocational Education with a view to co-ordinating the uneducated and poorly skilled population into a driving force to foster economic growth of the sub-region.

Mrs. Ndong Jatta who stated this during an interactive session with newsmen said the ministry would rekindle the hope of our young people.

Apart from addressing the challenges of high population of uneducated and poorly skilled young people in the sub-region, the TVET she said would also serve as engine that should drive the economic growth of our countries if a ministry is created to coordinate its activities.
