UYO—Bishop Cletus Bassey of Destiny Tabernacle, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has endorsed Governor Godswill Akpabio for second term.
The endorsement was sealed during the enthronement service for newly dedicated Bishop Bassey in Uyo.
During the unction, Arch-Bishop Elijah Mboho, urged Bassey to be as courageous as the biblical Gideon, advising the new Bishop to take daring actions.
On his part, the deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Patrick Ekpotu, advised Bishop Bassey to be guided by truth “at all times; and to speak even with hard words because words have never broken bonesâ€.
Governor Akpabio, who was a guest at the enthronement service, had taken the Bible reading and addressed the congregation later. He was then ready to alight from the podium when Bishop Bassey invited him for prayers and anointed him for second term.
“ I have been given the key to this state and this nationâ€, he said. “This is the key. Today, I stake this anointing by you being the first…This head shall not go down. And you shall in 2011, continue in office, in the name of the Father, and of the Son; and of the Holy Spirit!â€
Bishop Bassey’s anointing on Akpabio was a rapid response to Obong Attah’s plea that evil should not be allowed to return to blight the state.
