By Peter Duru

MAKURDI – The Benue State Government has declared that it would not compromise the reforms it engendered in the polity, stressing that the government has been able to whether through the harsh realities of the current global financial crisis due to cost effective measures the government put in place in the last two and half years.

Special Adviser to Governor Gabriel Suswam on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr.
Sam Ode, who made this assertion during a chat with Vanguard in Makurdi lamented the harsh effect of the global economic meltdown on the nation’s economy and Benue State in particular.

stressing that on assumption of office, the Governor Suswam-led administration embarked on far reaching reforms of the state’s economy which entailed prudence in the management of the state’s resources.

Ode who maintained that the policy invariably placed the state on a better stead to withstand the shock of paucity of funds that accompanied the global economic downturn, implored Benue people to continue to support the administration in the onerous task of completely transforming the state.

The Adviser who noted that the global economic growth has been slowed down by the crisis stressed that the economies of developing countries were not spared either just as Benue was not left out of the adverse realities of the time.
