PPA joins Agbaso’s suit against Ohakim, INEC
Agbaso had sued INEC over cancellation of the April 14, 2007 governorship election in Imo State, reportedly won by Agbaso. The rescheduled election of April 28 threw up Ohakim on the platform of PPA. Agbaso’s contention is that the first election was conclusive with valid results and that INEC has no statutory powers to cancel an election that had been concluded.

FUTO teachers vow to continue strike
The Chairman, ASUU-FUTO, Dr. R.A. Ejimofor, who disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri, said that the current strike would not have lasted this long if the Federal Government had not reneged on the agreement it reached with the union.

Police begin search for kidnapped 7-yr-old boy
Enugu State Police Command has constituted a special kidnap squad to search for a seven months old baby boy, Ebube Chukwuka, kidnapped in Enugu on Monday. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr. Ebele Amaraizu, who disclosed this in Enugu yesterday, said that the command had to detail a special intelligence group to handle the matter because of its sensitive nature.
Tokyo appeals for bail at High Court
Hearing in the bail application has been fixed today. ‘Tokyo’’, along with four co-accused, has been incarcerated since June 9 and is facing a seven-count charge of murder, attempted murder and illegal possession of arms before an Ibadan Chief Magistrate’s Court. His co-accused, who have also gone to the High Court to seek bail, are Kasim Adelumuyi, alias Wonder, 40; Rasheed Oladele, 59; Taiwo Olapade, 50 and Musa Adeleke, alias Alubankudi, 45.
