The disqualification of Democratic Republic of Congo team V Club overshadowed the CAF Champions League groups draw in Cairo Tuesday.
V Club were kicked out of the premier annual African club competition for fielding an ineligible player, Malian Idrissa Traore, in the qualifying rounds.
Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, beaten on away goals by V Club in the final qualifying round, were reinstated.
When Traore joined V Club this year from Stade Malien he still had to serve three matches of a four-match CAF ban.
But the Kinshasa club fielded Traore during the three-round qualifying phase and Stade Malien complained to CAF.
Sundowns were placed in Group B with three former champions, Enyimba of Nigeria, Zamalek of Egypt and Entente Setif of Algeria.
Zamalek have won the competition five times and Enyimba and Setif twice each.
Record eight time winners Al Ahly of Egypt are in Group A with Zesco United of Zambia, ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast and Wydad Casablanca of Morocco.
ASEC and Wydad have been African champions once each.
Group winners and runners-up after the double-round mini-leagues qualify for the semi-finals.
