Pfizer Nigeria in the scope of its corporate social responsibility recently supported St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church during their health week to address the growing problem of cardiovascular diseases in the country. This was achieved through donation of strips for cardiovascular screening. The screening which covered health parameters like blood pressure, glucose, total cholesterol held in the church premises.
The Medical Committee Chairman, Austine Ihedioha stated: “We are very glad with the support and assistance we received from Pfizer during our medical 6th year anniversary at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church. We will hope to get similar support from Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, in the near future especially in the area of cancer screening and Cholesterol screening”.
Addressing the growing concern over cardiovascular diseases in Nigeria, Pfizer’s Cardiovascular Screening Project has provided free medical screenings to more than 15,000 people at risk across the country.
Pfizer Nigeria continues to offer blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol readings in pharmacies, religious organizations, corporate establishments, and health care institutions.
Pfizer Nigeria’s Director Corporate Affairs/Health & Value, Mrs. Margaret Olele, called on all to learn to imbibe good and healthy lifestyle. “Pfizer is committed to the provision of life saving medicines in the treatment and management of hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. It is also important to note that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is a necessity for healthy blood pressure”,Olele affirmed.
