The Rivers State Government  has dissociated  itself   from the protests in parts of Port Harcourt by what it perceived as some persons motivated   by opposition   politicians  in the   state   with the failed aim of creating unnecessary   political tension.

A statement released by the Government House said Rivers State is one of the Federating Units of the Federal   Republic of Nigeria.   “It is   not part of any separatist movement and will never be.  The   Government   and people of Rivers State remain   committed to a united, peaceful   and  prosperous Nigeria.”
