UMUAHIA—ABIA State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the 2015 general elections, Dr. Alex Otti, has charged members of the party elected into the state House of Assembly to make a difference in the House through quality and effective representation of their people.
Otti at a two-day retreat organised by APGA for the legislators-elect, charged Assembly members to focus on “legislations that will enhance the quality of lives of the people and overall development of the state.”
According to him, the retreat was designed to expose them to global best practices in the conduct of the business of legislation.
“The two-day retreat is part of efforts being undertaken by the party to ensure that the legislators hit the ground running for the benefit of Abians,” Otti explained.
He said that the knowledge acquired at the retreat would equip the elected lawmakers to the challenges ahead and also enable them to make great impact in the lives of their people and the state during their tenure.
Otti assured members-elect that the party will continue to organise similar programmes as part of the deliberate efforts aimed at helping them to upgrade their skills and capacity for legislative functions.
In their remarks, some of the members-elect commended the party for organising the retreat which they said had exposed them to the enormity of their legislative responsibilities.
