Aba—A socio-political group, South East Progressives Assembly, SEPA, has berated the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, describing the party as an association of strange bedfellows and wounded political foes who clearly lacked coherence and ideology to effect the much desired change they promised in Nigeria.
In a statement by its President, Ebere Uzoukwa and made available to Vanguard, the group stated that a situation where APC could not get members together and leverage on its majority in the Senate with 10 members above the PDP to produce both the Senate President and his Deputy, clearly exposed the party’s lack of coordination, greed and disunity.
Ít said: “If the APC couldn’t control its members, how can it then manage the affairs of the nation and actualize the change it promised Nigerians?
‘’We thought the APC which parades itself as an agent of change would have placed the nation above other sectional and individual interests and allow the National Assembly members-elect to freely choose her leadership, but the party failed the first test posed to it by Nigerians.
‘’The revolution, remarriage and consensus between the PDP senators-elect and APC’s senators of ‘New PDP’ bloc to produce bi-partisan leadership of APC Senate President and PDP deputy Senate President has taught APC a lesson that Nigerians can no longer be taken for granted.”
SEPA accused APC of resorting to intimidation and unconstitutional mock elections to satisfy the desire of a few individuals who pride themselves as leaders of the party.
The group also congratulated Senator Bukola Saraki and Senator Ike Ekweremadu for their election as President and Deputy President of the Senate; House of Representatives Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, his Deputy, Yusuf Lasun, as well as members of the 8th National Assembly for showing patriotism in choosing their leadership.
