Eagles face bumpy flight in Congo

HUMBLED: Super Eagles players listen to their coach before training ahead of the return clash with Sudan on Wednesday.

African champions, Nigeria have a serious task today when they confront the Red Devils of Congo in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match at the Stade Municipal in Point Noire.

HUMBLED: Super Eagles players listen to their coach before training ahead of the return clash with Sudan on Wednesday.

The Super Eagles should expect a serious fight from their opponents who have been impressive as far as the ongoing qualifiers are concerned.

Supersport.com’s Ibitoye Shittu was in Congo last year with Nigerian champions, Kano Pillars and witnessed how the Sai Masugida were sent out from the champions League by AC Leopards.

The Eagles will play on the same pitch, the Stade Municipal in Pointe-Noire where Kano Pillars crashed out last year after losing 3-0 to AC Leopards.

He was the only Nigerian Journalist embedded with Pillars and now shares his experiences with us.

Stadium

The stadium though small has one of the best grounds in Africa if you like artificial turf, which we know the Eagles don’t, then the advantage is clearly with the home team.

Fans

I would advise the Nigerian supporters to be calm today in Point Noire because Congolese fans, who blow your mind with their non-stop cheering will do all their best to make life difficult for them at the Stadium.
