LAGOS—Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, yesterday, warned residents over the rising sea level in the state, saying it threatens every coastline across the globe.
Fashola made the remarks at the 2014 World Environmental Day celebration with the theme: ”Small Island, Developing States and Climate Change.” at Ikeja, Lagos.
According to the governor, represented by the Commissioner for Special Duty, Dr. Wale Ahmed, no nation in the world is completely free from the negative effects of climate change since strong storms and floods threaten every continent.
Fashola explained: “The reality before us is that no nation, however large or small, developed or underdeveloped, wealthy or poor, can escape the impact of climate change. Rising sea levels threaten every coastline. More powerful storms and floods threaten every continent.
