WARRI— FIVE fake plain clothes policemen allegedly from the Zone 5 police headquarters, Benin City, Edo State, have been apprehended by youths of Iyara community, Warri, Delta State and handed over to the “A” Division police authorities.
The fake policemen drove in a commando-like style into the community in a siren fitted Toyota Hilux jeep with number-plate DN 174 BEN and a Mercedez Benz 190 car with number-plate BF 166 RBC fully loaded with charms, drove straight to the community town hall at 9p.m., with intent to adopt a lady.
Vanguard learnt that both cars, fully loaded with heavily built men took strategic positions and without talking to any body at the youth secretariat, moved in and went to a lady’s house, knocked twice and broke the door to the single room apartment, where the occupant was busy cooking and after telling her that they were policemen from Zone 5, gave her two slaps on her face and were about taking her forcefully, when the youth leaders of the community accosted them for proper identification.
It was when the issue of proper identification came that the suspects all violently jumped into their waiting vehicles and drove off. Unknowing to them, the only gateway out of the community had been locked on the instruction of the youth leader.
They disembarked from the cars and attempted to run away through different routes and in the process, three of them were caught. They allegedly confessed that they were not policemen. The incident took place Tuesday night.
