Former Secretary General of the defunct Nigeria Football Association, Alhaji Sani Ahmed Toro has poured water on fears that the Super Eagles may not qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by America, Canada and Mexico.

As concerns over the Super Eagles’ 2026 World Cup qualification continue to dominate discussions in Nigerian football circle, a former captain of the team, and a member of the 1980 AFCON winning squad, Coach Henry Nwosu has said that it will be a big blow for the country if Nigeria fails to qualify.

Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, losing on away goals to Ghana in the play-offs. They are also dangerously placed second- to-last in their Group C with three points of a possible 12 points having played four of their five group opponents, leaving them six matches to determine their fate.

Miss Adanna Aaron, a fan of the Abia female team, Abia Angels, tipped Nigeria to top the group with ease.
