Senator Ben Murray-Bruce is unarguably one of the most respected serving Senators in Nigeria today. As a successful Entrepreneur with welfarist ideology and love for Country, he came with one mission; To take Nigeria out of the woods into a more creative and productive Country. And he seems to be in hurry to achieve this, the Senator currently has close to ten bills aside motions in the National Assembly in less than seven months. These are not just ordinary Bills and motions but very historic ones indeed.

The 2016 budget of Ondo State which is the seventh in the series of the state’s Budget of a ‘Caring Heart’ under the leadership of Governor Olusegun Mimiko, has, as usual, attracted comments and analysis by experts and political actors. The budget which has earned for itself the toga of an exemplary budget for other states, has however, come under attack by no less a party than the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The great people of Benue State have a special place in my heart and I greatly admire their academic industry. I know that one day, the potential God has given to them to feed the entire West Africa through value-added mechanized farming that will turn their farmers into mega billionaires will be realized. Benue State is more than just the food basket of Nigeria; it is also the food security of our dear nation. I salute the State’s agricultural prowess.

Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki on Wednesday February 10, 2016 took his pledge to make the 8th National Assembly open, inclusive, transparent and accountable a notch higher, when he opened the gates of the legislature to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the labour to ventilate their thoughts, make observations and voice their recommendations on how best to ensure that the 2016 budget truly reflects the will and aspiration of Nigerians.

THE way this government has gone about the business of governance since inception suggests that it is on a vengeance mission. It is as though there is an axe to grind with the previous government and this will not help its course. Government: whether good or bad is a continuum. It is on going, it never stops. It is like a relay race, where one segment of the race is handed over to another through a baton but governance goes much further, it never stops. That is why all the bickerings by the present regime against the previous are uncalled for. There are laws in the land to take care of infractions and no reasonable person will complain against its use on offenders but when you act as if there is nothing good to pick or continue from where the previous regime stopped, then there is something wrong.
