The ongoing protest by the Nigerian Labour Union, National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) over the disengagement of some of its members in Ikeja Electric, is taking a negative dimension which is capable of plunging the whole network into darkness and crippling socio-economic activities in the areas covered by the electricity distribution company.

Desperation to win elections in Nigeria is not in decline one bit. After the gracefulness of accepting defeat without a whimper by Goodluck Ebele Jonathan last year, one thought that politicians would take a cue and begin to take it easy with trying to win elections by all means, the do or die syndrome.

THE controversy as to whether to devalue the naira or not has taken the centre stage in the national discourse. One can pardon illiterates in economics especially primitive accumulators who are shouting for further devaluation of the naira. But when some professors of Economics and Ex CBN Governor and IMF have joined the chorus to continue to devalue the naira, then, something serious is amiss. The single reason they all gave is because the rate of Naira in the parallel market has worsened.

THESE are integrity times. It is proper therefore to start with a confession. I was one of those who congratulated Professor Jega and the Independent National Electoral Commission at the conclusion of the 2015 polls.

Your Excellency Sir, Gov. Nyesom Wike, I am writing this letter to you with every sense of humility infused with avalanche of respect for you and by extension, high esteem for your exalted position as the number one citizen of Rivers State.

THE bane of Nigeria’s political system is finance. Nigeria has one of the most expensive political systems in the world. We simply cannot afford it. There are no laws or culture about how to finance a political party or how much to spend on an election and where the money is coming from. What is the structure of parties and Governance in Nigeria?

THIS is a heart breaking question that all Nigeria’s parents, guardians and teachers need to brain storm upon decently and thoroughly. A successful nation without a well intellectually, morally, socially and psychologically oriented children as future leaders, is nothing but a ruling King without a crown prince or a successor.

I DO not know how many of our senior government officials who take their time to go by road transportation in this country. If they do and are allowed to face the experience it will be of tremendous benefit to this nation. I mean truly travelling round this country once in a while by road, without the over bearing presence of the paraphernalia of offices, including sirens and escorts. As they say “seeing is believing” and “experience is the best teacher”.

I HAVE no doubt that the people of Edo state, will reward the philanthropy of their noble son, Barrister Ken Imansuangbon with victory in his contest for the governor of Edo state in this year.

WHEN in 2015, President Muhamadu Buhari,PMB, won the Presidential election after a keen contest with the then incumbent President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, most Nigerians were happy thinking that the “messiah” that will take Nigerians from the woods to the “Promised Land” had come. Many, also jubilated with the firm belief that the ‘’change’’ which he and his Party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, promised Nigerians was certainly going to transform Nigeria.
