After watching the video of the governorship campaign launch of factional candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia State, Mazi Alex Otti,  it dawned on me that he just might be a closet fan of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s school of good governance, only that quest for the title of “Governor of Abia State” has made it difficult for him to acknowledge that and join hands with the incumbent to develop the state.

It was joyful celebration, deep-rooted camaraderie and appreciative payback time for the frontline Educationist and Legal colossus, Aare Afe Babalola, CON, SAN when the Afe Babalola Beneficiaries Worldwide, ABBW, unveiled a burst in his honour in the sleepy but heroic town of Okemesi-Ekiti and later decorated him as a “Peace Time Hero” in his homestead, Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State Capital, last weekend.

THERE is no other way to describe the over 100 gallant men of the Nigerian Army who were deployed into the valley of death than honest, loyal and faithful heroes. In service of the fatherland, they were sent to the wilderness of Melete in North-East Nigeria where forest-backed Boko Haram terrorists creeped-in, fully armed with state- of -the-art modern weaponry.  How else can one describe the signing of enlistment form in which it is boldly written that you can die in the course of duty and you still go ahead with it?

The big news coming out of last week is President Muhammadu Buhari’s refusal to sign the amended Electoral Act. In all the emotions and outrage from various groups about this anti democratic action by the President, many have failed to logically ask and answer the poignant question, why does Buhari not want to sign the Electoral Act? Forget about the flimsy reason he gave in his letter to the Senate, the real reason is much more sinister.

The recent lamentation by Nigeria’s first lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, that there are two powerful people literally holding her husband hostage and frustrating whatever efforts the Nigerian President may have desired to make in order to improve his governance credentials did not come as a surprise to many Nigerians.
