When the current long queues resurfaced in filling stations in the predominantly riverine Bayelsa State two weeks ago, many did not believe it would persist this long due to the government call on residents not to embark on panic buying as everything was being done to address the scarcity.

The fuel scarcity being experienced all over the country is biting harder in Plateau State as fewer filling stations have fuel to sell to the public.

“What type of country is this now? I have been standing here for the past two hours waiting to buy fuel. The petrol assistants said they are not ready to sell fuel. Where do I go from here? I sell groundnuts to fend for my children and I depend so much on fuel. Can’t these our leaders just consider the masses?”

Nigerians have never had it so bad in a long time. Even the usual scarcity that characterizes the end of every year did not surface as expected last December.

Many petrol stations that did not have petrol days back, now have the product, but sold above the official pump price of N97 per litre.
