Can women truly negotiate sex?
The callous and unscrupulous behaviour of Mr. Bayo Senayon knew no bounds. As Manager, Human Resources and Administration of a big manufacturing company, his notoriety brought the department to disrepute so much that almost all workers, at least those who had not been caught by his tentacles, held his person and office in disdain and tried as much as possible to stay out of his way. This was because he had the ears of top management, such that several reports against his conducts were flung into the waste basket.
Protection: Are you doing it right?
The condom is the most popular form of contraception. This is because it is the only contraception so far that combines the function of prevention of pregnancy with prevention of STDs at a go. Almost everyone seems to know what condoms are and what they are used for. However, not everyone who uses the condom knows how to do so properly and effectively, making nonsense of the whole process.
Family Planning: why men should take up the battle (2)
The advantages of family planning cannot be overemphasised both in terms of individual and societal good. Besides helping the woman to maintain a healthier lifestyle, it helps to harness and manage family resources better, while on a broader perspective, societies can control population explosion, as well as improve socio-economic infrastructure of their people. It is pure common sense and logic which has helped many economies across the world to thrive better.
Family planning: why men should take up the battle
We all listened with rapt attention as Uncle Steve narrated a personal experience he described as a narrow escape from the hands of a young, calculating, gold digger and her mother. But for reluctantly opting to undergo a vasectomy seven years ago, he would have blindly walked into a trap and become a polygamist, he said, and we all broke into laughter, including his wife.
Readers respond: Is polygamy really bad?
By Yetunde Arebi A couple of months ago, the story of a couple at the brink of separation was published on this column and I asked readers the question above. Bisola and Akinola, blessed with three children, had been married for 17 years, living with each other’s excesses as most couples do. Then one day, […]
Is curbing sexual perversion achievable?
A couple of years ago at a friend’s house in Surulere area of Lagos, a ritual took place every weekend in one of the apartments. The occupant, a guy, would bring home a lady every Friday or Saturday to spend the night. Most of them never return after one or two visits. This is because you are bound to hear the lady either weeping profusely, shouting abuses and curses at him, or simply pleading and trying to negotiate her release all through the night.
Boost your love life with sexting!
Sexting is described as the act of sending sexually explicit messages mainly through mobile phones. A 21st century innovation that became popular with the advancement in technology on internet communication, involving not only text, but pictures and videos of subtle sexual innuendoes to outright sexual acts.
Why women don’t want sex
After my two-part article on why women have sex, I received several messages from readers who were interested in knowing quite the opposite, why women don’t want to have sex. One guy said if it was true that women have sex for all the reasons mentioned, then, they have enough reasons to have sex almost every day. Another wanted to know why once married, most women lose interest in sex and all they do is find excuses for their lack of interest. He went on to postulate that if women gave enough sex to their husbands, then they would be less tempted to cheat on them. I told him I did not totally agree with that position
