Technology is a problem solver and there is no other place technology solutions are needed more than in Africa.
However, smart Africans, mostly Nigerians have taken the opportunity presented by technology to move the continent as several initiatives geared towards placing Africa permanently on the global map sprout every day.

In a committed effort to solve the recycling and e-waste challenge in Africa, Microsoft Mobile Devices Group in partnership with German based company, Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH have entered into a partnership agreement to research the current practices of repairing, reusing, refurbishing, trade of parts and material processing regarding old mobile phones in Kenya, Morocco and Nigeria.

Why should we care
The mission of making the world’s information accessible doesn’t preclude mobile – in fact, mobile searches are an important part of the search experience. On high-end smartphones, the types of searches that people are doing are surprisingly similar to the kinds of searches they do on their desktop – it isn’t just people looking for directions or looking for sports scores, people are doing complicated searches and looking intensely for information.

Unless a sustainable national electronic response centre is immediately established in all the African states where the dreaded Ebola virus is ravaging people and economies, controlling it may be a wild goose chase.

Many stakeholders have
expressed fears that Nigeria may not meet the June 2015 deadline for countries to switch over to digital broadcasting, as stipulated by the International Telecommunications Union, ITU.
