The National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP), Lagos State chapter joined other thespians globally to mark “World Theatre Day (WTD)” in Lagos. The event which originally holds in March was shifted due the elections in the country, but bent on moving with other countries the group held its own leg of it in an epoch event which also featured the celebration of distinguished thespians and cultural ambassadors and investiture of World Theatre Day (WTD) Distinguished Personality, Bolanle Austen-Peters.

“Why can’t the federal government do a thorough positive transformation change of national theatre like it happened in other areas like Freedom Park, Lagos, rather, people come, collect subvention without any tangible results. If urgent steps should be taken to rectify things, the institution will bring in international patronage and reposition the place to its original status.”

The 2015 edition of the yearly Wole Soyinka International Cultural Exchange (WSICE) project has been scheduled to hold from July 12 through the 14th. The annual programme was initiated in 2010 and debuted on the 76th birthday anniversary of the Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka as the “quintessential artist and symbol of our humanity”, according to the promoters of the project, Nigeria-based ZMirage Multimedia Company and US-based GlobalNewHaven.
