THE leadership of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria has urged the President – elect, General Muhammadu Buhari to stand firm against corruption and other vices plaguing the country, as he prepares to take the mantle of leadership for positive change towards socio -political and economic emancipation of Nigeria on May 29, 2015. This admonition was contained in a statement issued at the end of the National executive committee meeting of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat at its headquarters in Lagos.

LAST week we discussed about the power of dua. We cannot exhaust the importance of dua. The recently concluded general elections was a pointer to the fact that dua changed the expectation or otherwise prediction of abysmal failure and break up of Nigeria as a nation. We have not only recorded an enviable success, we have raised the bar in the quest for democracy among the comity of nation. As it were, prayer is a catalyst for change. It is the only thing that can change an impending and imminent catastrophe and in fact alter the destiny of man

The last election showed that we have a lot of roles the youths can play for peace and national development. Recent statistics show that 70% of Nigerians are made up of the youths and that makes them vulnerable to a lot of undue influences. One of the ways the youths can ensure development is by shunning electoral violence and other forms of violence in all ramifications.

Sadaqah is a voluntary charity given by individuals to relieve problems and sufferings of fellow-human beings. In other words, the word sadaqah may be applied to all kinds of good deeds. In line with Hadiths narrated by Jaabir ibn ‘Abd-Allaah (RA) and recorded by Al-Bukhaari. Sadaqah can performed in different forms, such as in money, food, clothings to the needy; slaughtering of animals and giving away the meat to the poor; supporting good Islamic causes such as building mosques, schools, orphanages; providing sources of water.

The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar has charged government and individuals to place emphasis on building places of learning and worships, adding that, the country more than ever before needs institutions of moral and spiritual rebirth. The paramount ruler stated this while commissioning the Isa Kutepa Mosque and Quranic School built by Alhaji Razaq Kutepa and donated to the Muslim community in Lokoja, Kogi State Capital.
