The Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Dahiru Abubakar and the Police Management team, Wednesday, honoured some officers and men of the force who excelled in their respective assignments. Those honoured included; two Commissioners of police, Ogunsakin Tunde Johnson of the Special Fraud Unit(SFU), Lagos; Idris Faruk Umar of the Anti Fraud Section. Two Deputy Commissioners of Police: Chris Okey Ezike of the Federal Special Anti- Robbery Squad, Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi of the Interpol section; CSP Ibrahim Bako of SEB section, ASP Eseile Irioje, Inspector Yusuf Audu of the Federal SARS and Sgt. Whenever the orbitturns and another month of Ramadan approaches, happiness and joy filled the Muslim community. The reason being that it comes with two great gifts which are holiness and witnessing the night better than a thousand nights in which the Qur’an was revealed.

In what could be described as a near collapse of the nation’s tertiary education sector, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is now in the fourth day of its indefinite strike action. The ASUU strike is the newest cart in the bandwagon of industrial actions in the sector; Eight weeks ago, the academic and non-academic staff unions in Nigerian Polytechnics, under the umbrellas of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUPS), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIPS) and Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), embarked on a nationwide indefinite strike, over what they termed Federal Government’s insensitivity to their plights.
