We lost over 20,000 members in 5 years — NUCFRLANMPE President

THE job losses in the country has continued unabated, worsening the already employment crisis confronting Nigeria. Among other challenges facing the sector, President of the National Union of Chemical Footwear, Rubber, Leather and Non-Metallic Products Employees, Comrade Olatunji Babatunde ‘Goke, in this interface with Labour Vanguard, said no fewer than 20,000 members have been lost in the last five years.

Seafarers to continue receiving wages if held by pirates

Seafarers held captive as a result of an act of piracy or armed robbery against ships will continue to receive their wages and entitlements during their period of captivity under amendments  to the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006, as amended (MLC, 2006)  adopted by the Special Tripartite Committee  of the MLC, 2006 at a recent meeting at the International Labour Organisation, ILO, in Geneva.

Modular refineries will create massive jobs in Niger Delta says Ex-PENGASSAN

Former national president, Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria,  PENGASSAN  Dr Brown Ogbeifun in this interview encouraged the quick take off of modular refineries in the Niger Delta , saying it would create over twenty jobs across the region.  According to him, before the refineries would take off  Excravos, Koko, Sapele, Burutu ports in Delta state would be dredged, noting that this would step up employment opportunities for teeming youths in the region .
