Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, Monday, petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari, demanding immediate reversal of the hikes in the pump price of petrol and electricity tariff, among other demands, in the next seven days, or face indefinite industrial action.

Joint Action Front, JAF, has expressed disapproval over the new hike in prices of fuel, electricity and Value Added Tax, VAT, in the country. The group also revealed plans to commence an indefinite nationwide protest beginning from September 16, to press home their anger.

Pro-labour civil society organisations, on the platform of Joint Action Front, JAF, has said the Federal Government had, in 2016, promised to use the gains and differential from the hike in the pump price of petrol to provide welfare and social services to Nigerians as well as fix the nation’s four refineries.

THE Federal Government has approved additional N8 billion to be released immediately for the payment of special/hazard allowances for medical doctors. The Federal Government also set two weeks timeline for the payment of the N4 billion Medical Residency Training for 2020 to striking resident doctors.

Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, has taken up arms against Total E&P and Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, over unpaid benefits to members of the union by Valiant Energy Services, a service contractor to both multinational oil companies.
