The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) in Delta State, through its chairman, Barrister Oghenjabor Ikimi also lent its voice to the Omovie appeal, specifically calling on the governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, as a matter of humanitarian gesture to come to the aid of the victim, “ as same is inconsonance with the provisions of Section 14, subsection 2, paragraph b of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which states that the primary responsibility of government shall be to ensure the welfare and security of its citizenry.”

Investigation showed that Ogo was shot when the soldier opened fire in the heat of an argument with a motor-cyclist at the checkpoint. He was rushed to the Army Barracks and kept in the military sickbay without proper treatment.

Edobor continued that I showed him love and care but he remained unyielding, adding that “at a time when his wife was heavily pregnant, I asked him if there was any housemaid to assist his wife in cleaning the environment but, he pleaded that as soon as his wife puts to bed, he would employ an house-help.
