LAST week, the day before the Ekiti State gubernatorial election, I told you that I had known Dr Kayode Fayemi, the then Governor, since we were both youngsters and that I held him and his wife, Erelu Bisi, in the highest esteem.

I urged Ekiti indigenes to vote for Fayemi because I felt that he had done a good job under difficult circumstances and was convinced that he had what it took to carry the people he had diligently and honestly served for nearly four years to the next level and fulfil their socio-economic development dreams.

ON Friday, June 13, 2014, a grand reception was held for the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Diamond Bank Plc, Dr Alex Otti, by the umbrella body of traditional rulers in his native Ngwa land, Abia State. Alex is widely believed to be warming up to contest the Abia governorship election on the platform of the PDP come 2015.

AN honest disclosure is the appropriate way to start today’s piece. Kayode Fayemi, the outgoing governor of Ekiti State, is my friend.

ON a matter of urgent public importance, we heartily congratulate the people of Ekiti State for showing a good example of how to behave in an election.

But I will not be here for long. I will soon be heading home. However, the little I have seen has been satisfying. The football culture, the friendly Brazilian people and their ever exciting women.
