MKO Abiola: A case study in transformational leadership
ON June 10, 2019, President Muhammed Buhari was reported to have signed into law a bill to amend the Public Holidays Act with the aim of declaring June 12 as Democracy day in Nigeria. This development, much like the government’s initial announcement of its intention, was met with much excitement. Admission of infant/underage geniuses into universities
PERHAPS the greatest controversy surrounding tertiary education in Nigeria borders on the age of university applicants and their denial of admission. It is a notorious fact that Chief Awolowo was a singular arrowhead and defender of the rights of the Nigerian people to qualitative education. In addition to providing free primary education in the Western Region, Chief Awolowo was instrumental to the establishment of the University of Ife (now rightly known as Obafemi Awolowo University). His vision for OAU was to promote quality university education, character development and spartan self-discipline.
