LIRS seals off 4 companies for tax evasion
The Lagos State Inland Revenue Service (LIRS) on Tuesday sealed off four companies in the state for allegedly owing the state government about N173.8 million in tax liabilities.
UNIDO to help Nigeria, others replace chiller
UNIDO, and French Global Environment Facility are to help Nigeria , Egypt, Cameroon, Egypt, Namibia, Senegal and Sudan to replace chillers. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce chilled water for cooling air in commercial, residential and industrial processes. UNIDO is the main implementing agency of the project worth EUR 5.3 million.
CITN tasks FG on tax enlightenment campaign
The President, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Mr Kunle Quadri, says the three tiers of government should be involved in tax enlightenment campaign. Quadri, who made the call during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Tuesday, said that such periodical tax education would enable tax payers to pay their taxes voluntarily.He said that such enlightenment would also help to improve the system of tax collection in the country.
Contractors accuse shipping firms of frustrating clearance of NIPP containers
CONTRACTORS to the National Independent Power Project (NIPP) have accused some foreign shipping firms and the Nigeria Customs Service of deliberately frustrating the timely clearance of containers carrying equipment for the power project.
NIMASA de-registers 355 vessels, operators kick against action
In a bid to update the nation’s ship register the management of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has de_registered about 355 vessels owned by local operators, even as the indigenous operators have kicked against the action of the apex maritime regulatory agency.Vanguard gathered that the vessels were de-registered from the country’s Ship Register due to expired and invalid documents.
