Umuchinemere Pro-credit Microfinance Bank (UPMFB), Enugu, in keeping with the microfinance policy of empowering the ‘active poor’, has opened a Credit Relations Office (CRO) in Umana Ndiagu Autonomous community, Ezeagu LGA, Enugu State.
According to the bank’s management, “UPMFB is out to give life to the rural people, by helping them to grow economically. The CRO will provide normal banking services and products, such as current, savings and deposit accounts, loans, asset management and services, amongst other.â€
Umana Ndiagu community, especially the active poor, were implored by the bank to avail themselves of the banking services and products the bank provides, charging them to patronize and encourage the bank, and to also ensure firm security of the office sited in the area.
A Director of the bank and chairperson of Enugu Diocese Catholic Women Organisation, Dr. Ngozi Agu, encouraged the organization to open an account with the bank by donating some money to them.\
Thanking the management of the bank for bringing its services nearer to the people, the Parish Priest of the area, Fr. Nicholas Nwanzi, said Umana Ndiagu people are predominantly farmers who would benefit immensely from the services of the bank to improve their standard of living.
Since being established by the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, UPMFB has taken the microfinancing policy implementation mission seriously by establishing its offices in 11 rural areas in Enugu State since it was granted final license by the Central Bank of Nigeria in September 2007.
