PIB: Legislators have failed Nigerians — Okwuosa

The Executive Chairman of Oilserv Limited, an indigenous oil service group, Chief Emeka Okwuosa, has accused the legislators of failing in their responsibilities to Nigerians and the country by deliberately refusing to pass the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, which is meant to boost the fortunes of Nigeria’s petroleum economy. Okwuosa, who spoke to journalists on the sidelines of the just concluded Offshore Technology Conference, OTC 2015, in Houston Texas, spoke against the backdrop of the fact that the PIB has remained at the National Assembly for over a decade without being passed into law.

CBN, how long will the depositors of Savannah Bank suffer?

Abu is always wearing the countenance of somebody who just lost a dear one. But it is not the demise of a dear one that makes him wear a mournful look. It is his money that has been trapped in Savannah Bank since 2002. The operating license of Savannah Bank was revoked in February 2002 by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The owners of the bank however challenged the revocation in court, thus preventing the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) from taking over the assets of the bank as liquidators, and pay depositors like Abu, the maximum insured deposit, which was then N50,000.

Katsina 10MW wind farm attains 98% completion — FG

ABUJA: The Federal Government disclosed last weekend that the 10 mega watt, MW, Katsina wind farm has attained 98 percent completion. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, Amb. Godknows Igali, who said this in Abuja noted that the test running of the 37 turbines in the facility had since begun with five already successfully test-run. He also said the transmission line for the evacuation of the power to be produced is ready through the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, as confirmed by their officials.
