Eagles job: Amodu attacks Siasia

FORMER Eagles Coach, Amodu Shuaibu is red-hot with his boxing gloves, ready to salvage whatever is remaining of Nigerian football.

The man who qualified Nigeria for the World Cup in South Africa before being pushed out for Swede coach, Lars Lagerback is ready to knock-out Samson Siasia from taking over as Eagles’ chief coach. “There is no place a job is reserved for one individual. He has to go through due process.

He has to compete with other qualified coaches in the land and if he turns out a winner, fine. But narrowing the job to him alone is not good. I don’t think that being an ex-international is a criteria for doing well as Eagles’ coach. Even at that, there are other ex-internationals like Stephen Keshi, Austin Eguavoen, Sunday Oliseh etc.

They can rule out Amodu. I have played my own part. But let us have a good representation of other interested coaches to choose the best for Nigeria. Even when Lars Lagerback was employed, there were other good coaches who competed with him.

The job should not be given to Siasia on a platter of gold. No. It is never done and it is not healthy”, Amodu Shuaibu who has the singular honour of being the only indigenous coach to have qualified Nigeria to two separate World Cups said. Amodu qualified Nigeria for the World Cup in Korea/Japan and the South Africa World Cup. However, he never led the Eagles to the promised land(World Cup).
