ACCREDITED Civil Societies Organizations, ACSO, has challenged the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission DSIEC to remain an unbiased umpire to win the confidence of all in the today Council polls.

National coordinator of the group, Comrade Richards Adebayo said they were impressed with the preparation of DSIEC in the area of logistics, voters education and security network.

Adeboyo called on Deltans irrespective of their political parties, religion and tribe to come out en masse to exercise their franchise, commending DSIEC for its resolve to conduct credible, transparent, violent free and fair local government elections in accordance with the state electoral law.

He also commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for deeming it necessary to conduct the forthcoming Local Government election in the state not minding the economic challenges which other states are using as an excuse.

While advising the state government not to interfere in the administration of the local government councils so that the grass-roots could directly benefit from the dividends of democracy and good governance in the state, he said the body has carried out a pre election assessment and opinion poll exercise ahead of today election to ascertain the level of preparedness of DSIEC to conduct a credible and transparent election by providing a level playing ground for all political parties.

He commended the Commission for its wonderful preparation for credible, transparent, violent free and fair local government elections in accordance with the state electoral law.
