ASABA— MEN of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, have intercepted a truck loaded with adulterated petroleum products while the owner of the truck conveying the product, was also arrested.
The truck with registration number Enugu XE 522, was intercepted at the Asaba Bridge Head, weekend.
Displaying the seized truck, Delta State Commandant, Musa Andekin, warned illegal bunkerers to hands off the business, as his men were prepared to chase them into their holes.
The Commandant said, “my men sighted the truck on the Benin Asaba highway and having reasonably suspected the vehicle, trailed it and caught up with it at the Niger Bridge Head.â€
He added that the driver of the truck and the conductor immediately escaped and while the truck was being moved to their office, a man surfaced, claiming to be owner of the vehicle and was promptly arrested.
Meanwhile, the Commandant has warned the 280 junior officers of the Corps recently recruited from all the local government areas of the state to shun corruption and abuse of office or be shown the way out. He charged them not to use their uniform to intimidate or harass the civilian populace but to use it to discharge their civil defence duties.
He said at the passing out parade for men and officers in Asaba, that the “Corps has zero tolerance for corruption and will not hesitate to show erring officers the way out.â€
