UGHELLI—FORMER Governorship aspirant in Delta State in the 2007 gubernatorial election, Mr Sunny Onuesoke, has charged Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor to use his position as chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, to promote religious harmony among all the religious groups in the country.

Onuesoke who spoke to newsmen, yesterday in Ughelli, Delta State, said there should be no more religious war in the country, particularly among the Muslims and Christians. He expressed hope that the emergence of Pastor Oritsejafor as CAN president will put an end to the prolonged religious feud in Nigeria and congratulated him on his election.

He lamented that the religious war that had bedeviled the country had caused great socio-economic setback and loss of lives, he added that religious acrimony was not good for the international image of the country.

To this end, he called on Christians and non Christians alike to rally round Pastor Oritsejafor in his quest to advance the spiritual growth of Nigeria.

Speaking further, he enjoined youths of the Niger Delta region to give peace a chance in the interest of sustainable development of the region.
