ENUGU—WORRIED by the economic down turn in the South East zone on account of increasing crime wave, especially kidnapping and armed robbery, Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, ECCIMA, yesterday, announced plans to convene a South East Economic Summit.
The proposed summit, according to the chamber, is to address the situation where states in the zone took the rear among the 36 states of Nigeria as the least friendly states for doing business in Nigeria due to insecurity.
President of ECCIMA, Mr. Okechukwu Nwadinobi, said while inaugurating the Technical/Planning committee of the summit in Enugu that “every Nigerian of South East origin, whether living within the zone or in diaspora, did not need to listen to an economist to know that these are indeed trying times for our people.â€
