AGBOR—TUDENTS of the Colleges of Education, COE, Agbor, have appealed to the Delta State Government, to negotiate with striking members of the Senior Staff Union of Colleges of Education, Nigeria, SSUCOEN, Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics, SSANIP,  and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, NASU,  in the state owned Colleges of Education and Polytechnics to resolve the issues that led to the ongoing industrial action by the three unions.

Similarly, the students have appealed to the striking workers to return to the negotiation table with the state government and resolve their differences in the interest of the students who are at the receiving end of the cumulative effects of the strike.

The President of the NCE Students Union Government, SUG, in the College, Comrade Christopher Monye, said the appeal became necessary, because of the implication of the strike to the academic activities in the institutions.

He lamented that students had started feeling its negative impact because it had adversely affected the normal teaching and learning process in the College community.

According to him, “As an education friendly governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan should please listen to the striking workers by approving their demands so as to take tertiary education in the state to a higher pedestal.”

Also speaking, Miss Gillian Onotanimere,  said that the strike by the  unions was affecting the degree students of the College and called on government to motivate workers by addressing their needs in order to enhance their productivity.
