The Nigerian Armed Forces has been called upon to locate a military training institution in the South East Political Zone.

This was one of the suggestions proffered for the promotion of cordial relationship between civilians and military in the geo-political zone, at a town hall  meeting held in Owerri, Imo State.

The forum was part of a nation_wide programme organized by the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff to sensitize Nigerians for cordial relations between civilians and military. The forum is also to collect opinions of Nigerians on how to achieve the objective.

A contributor at the forum revealed that there is no military training institution in the entire South East political zone. He said this is one of the factors militating against cordial relations between the armed forces and the people of the area. He also suggested that recruitment into the armed forces should be spread across the nooks and crannies of Nigeria so that every community in the country will have their men in the military institution.
