Corruption, indiscipline bane of devt in Nigeria – Shinkafi

Gusau— Governor Mahmud Shinkafi of Zamfara has said corruption and indiscipline are the main factors militating against the country’s development.

He made the remark in Gusau yesterday at the passing out ceremony of 360 youths trained as War Against Indiscipline, WAI, brigades by the National Orientation Agency, NOA.

Shinkafi said unless efforts were intensified to wipe out corruption and indiscipline among Nigerians, the county would continue to be listed among the underdeveloped nations of the world.

He noted with regret that corruption and indiscipline had in the past 50 years slowed down the nation’s development and made the dreams of its founding fathers unrealisable.

The governor urged Nigerians to shun all forms of sharp practices, indiscipline and other anti-social behaviours for the nation to realise its potential.

He reiterated his administration’s determination to continue to collaborate with agencies such as NOA and Public Complaints Commission to inculcate discipline in the citizenry.

The NOA Director-General, Alhaji Idi Faruk, represented by an official of the agency, Alhaji Garba Gada, urged security agencies to work in concert with the war brigades in the efforts to re-brand the country.

He also urged Nigerians to embrace maintenance culture and ensure that public facilities in their domains were adequately protected.
