Content Act: No waivers for oil, gas operators

By Oscarline Onwuemenyi

ABUJA— The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, Mr. Ernest Nwapa, has said oil and gas operators and multinational service companies would not be encouraged to seek waivers in the course of implementing the Nigerian Content Act.

The Nigerian Content Act was signed into law by President Goodluck Jonathan on April 22 and it specified benchmarks which must be attained from the commencement of the Act, but the expectations could be hampered by current capacity limitations in the country.

Nwapa spoke at a meeting of the Implementation Committee of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board in Abuja,  Monday.
