The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has told Nigerians to vote out their president, if they are not happy with his administration and retain him if they are pleased.

He stated this in an interview aired on national television yesterday.

According to him, the electorates have not realised the power they have which made him to urge them to be organised.

When asked what government must do to better the lot of the Nigerian youth, the Ooni replied: “Why must it be government, government? Who is government? It is the people that are behind the government.

“If you are not happy with your president, you go for another election, and vote him out. If you are happy with your president, you will vote him to remain in power.”

The monarch also cautioned youths in the country to desist from making hate speeches, urging them to remain united and focused to make Nigeria better.

This came as the Ife monarch felicitated with Muslims all over the world on the successful completion of Ramadan fasting.

Speaking further, he said: “My school of thought is let us, first of all, organise ourselves and let us talk positively about this country. Let us stop derogatory, hate speeches, things that will continue to divide everybody further.”

On the need to desist from making hate speeches, division and projection of negative energy among countrymen, the traditional ruler said: “Truth be told, the youth don’t know their power yet. Fortunately, power belongs to the youth of Nigeria. Once they can get themselves together, that power belongs to them. So, my advice to them is to stop hate speeches. They should stop being not focused. I understand the frustrations, I understand absolutely. I live all my life for the youth – every day of my life, I live it for the youth.

“My advice is; in 2019, they should vote right. Whoever they think will do Nigeria justice, that will not divide us further, that will unite us further, and make us be a better nation, let us rally round that person,” he said.

Also, he felicitated with Muslims all over the world on the successful completion Ramadan fasting, which climaxed with the Eid el-Fitr.

In a statement signed by the his Director of Media and Public Affairs, Mr Moses Olafare, the monarch expressed his displeasure over what he described as the sacrilegious attitude of some Muslims, especially those in positions of authority, who during or after Ramadan, refuse to desist from ungodly acts of criminality.
