Kidnap
UYO—The kidnappers of Engr. Mbosowo Augustine Ubom, a university lecturer in Akwa Ibom State, are reportedly demanding N10 million ransom.
A family source told Vanguard in Uyo yesterday, that the whereabouts of the victim is still unknown, and appealed to the kidnappers to free their son as there was no money to give as ransom.
Engr. Ubom, who is a lecturer in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of Akwa Ibom State University, Mkpat Enin, was abducted last weekend at his residence in Ikot Ekpaw, near Ekparakwa.
The victim, the source said, was relaxing with family members when the kidnappers broke into the house, shooting into the air.
The area, according to the source, who volunteered information on grounds of anonymity, is suddenly becoming notorious following the frequent cases of kidnapping.
Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, ASP Cordelia Nwawe, when contacted, confirmed the incident on telephone, saying that investigation was ongoing.
Sources said policemen have interrogated some family members, while a student, who lives with the lecturer, was also detained.
