The Nigeria Football Supporters Club, NFSC seems headed for another round of crisis despite the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF’s reconciliation effort last October as the Prince Vincent Okumagba-led group has fixed its own election for Abuja same day with the Lagos group.

The Lagos group had on Monday announced that the election, which it believes is the authentic one after both factions were reconciled last October, would hold in Lagos being the headquarters of the Club.

Factional leader, Prince Okumagba who the Lagos group said failed to pick a form even after the deadline for the purchase of forms was shifted three times said in a press statement that he was still in the race for National Chairman but did not state who are his opponents and that the election would hold in Abuja at an undisclosed venue on Saturday.

“We have a letter written to us by the NFF reaffirming the election in Abuja on Saturday and also we have been in direct contact with over 90 percent of the chairmen and their secretaries confirming their arrival dates,” he stated.

While the Lagos group spoke through the Deputy President General of the body, Alhaji Waheed Aderenle Yusuf that the Club is not under the NFF nor the Sports ministry but partners in the business of promoting football in Nigeria and would not be directed where they should hold their election, Okumagba said that the sports minister, Solomon Dalung wants it in Abuja for “transparency and security reasons.”

“Let’s be realistic with ourselves, NFSC cannot exist without the NFF because the product (football) we support is theirs. The government wants the best for the club and in order to ensure a hitch free poll devoid of hoodlums, manipulation and violence that may result to the loss of innocent lives and properties because of self-fish ambition of some of the leaders, the onions (sic) are on us to obey government’s sincere directive to hold it in the nation’s capital to save ourselves.
